Malbec: from France to Argentina, a wine lover’s delight.
The Malbec grape is a black grape variety originating from the south of France, but today it is in Argentina that it has found its maximum expression.
The color of Malbec wine is typically deep and intense, with shades ranging from ruby red to dark purple.
On the nose, Malbec offers a rich and complex aromatic bouquet, with predominant notes of black fruits such as plums, black cherries and blackberries. Often, hints of sweet spices, vanilla, tobacco and chocolate also emerge, especially when the wine is aged in oak barrels.
On the palate, Malbec is full-bodied and enveloping, with soft and velvety tannins that contribute to a pleasant structure.
The flavor is generally rich and fruity, with moderate acidity that balances the sweetness of the fruit well. The finish is persistent and can have a slight mineral note, especially in wines from high altitudes, such as those produced in the Mendoza region of Argentina.
Thanks to its versatility and distinctive qualities, Malbec is ideal both to be enjoyed alone and in combination with robust dishes such as red meats, grilled meats, stews and mature cheeses.
