Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal

The aromatic star of Bordeaux: Sauvignon Blanc.

Varietal

Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is a variety of white grape native to the Bordeaux region of France.

It is particularly appreciated for its fresh, aromatic and lively wines.

The main characteristics of this grape include high acidity and a wide range of distinctive aromas and flavors. Sauvignon Blanc wines tend to have citrus notes such as lemon and grapefruit, as well as hints of tropical fruit, green apple and peach. Some may also have herbaceous notes, such as cut grass and green pepper, and minerals.

Climate and soil greatly influence the aromatic profile of Sauvignon Blanc. For example, in cooler regions such as the Loire Valley in France or the Marlborough region in New Zealand, wines tend to have higher acidity and more pronounced herbaceous aromas. In warmer areas, however, more fruity notes and less acidity emerge.

It is a versatile grape that can be vinified in a dry, sweet or even sparkling style.

Thanks to its liveliness and complex aromas, Sauvignon Blanc is an excellent choice to accompany fish, seafood and goat cheese dishes.
