Moscato

Moscato is an aromatic white or black grape variety, grown in many wine regions of the world, famous for its ability to produce sweet, aromatic and sparkling wines.

Its origins date back to the Middle Eastern Mediterranean basin, and it is particularly famous in Italy, where excellent examples are produced such as Moscato d’Asti, known for its lightness and low alcohol content, and Asti Spumante, a sweet and lively sparkling wine.

Other important wine regions for Muscat include France (where it is known as Muscat) and Australia, which produces highly regarded versions of this grape.

One of the distinctive characteristics of Moscato is its intense aroma, reminiscent of flowers, exotic fruit and citrus fruits. Typical aromas include notes of orange blossom, rose, peach, apricot and lemon. This aromatic bouquet also transfers to the wine, making Moscato wines particularly fragrant and inviting.

From a taste point of view, Moscato wines are generally sweet, with a pleasant freshness due to good acidity.

This combination of sweetness and acidity makes Moscato a versatile wine, suitable both as an aperitif and as an accompaniment to dessert.
